Three Examples of Depression include:

1. Major Depressive Disorder (MDD): An individual experiences a persistent and intense feeling of sadness or a lack of interest in external stimuli for at least two weeks. Symptoms include changes in appetite or weight, sleep disturbances, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, and difficulty concentrating.

2. Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD): Also known as dysthymia, this is a chronic form of depression where a person has a depressed mood for most of the day, more days than not, for at least two years. Symptoms are similar to MDD but are less severe and more prolonged, often leading to significant impairment in daily functioning.

3. Postpartum Depression: This type of depression occurs after childbirth and is more intense and longer-lasting than the typical “baby blues.” Symptoms include severe mood swings, exhaustion, and a sense of hopelessness, affecting a mother’s ability to care for herself and her baby.

Depression is typically treated with a combination of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), medication management, and lifestyle changes, including regular exercise and a healthy diet.
